A Hero

What is a hero? Is it someone you look up to when you're a child? Is it friends? Family? Or is it the men and women who fight for our freedom every day and give their lives so we can have better ones?

The definition of a hero is: a man/woman of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his/her brave deeds and noble qualities.

When I think of a hero, I think of friends, family, and the men and women that give their lives and fight for our freedom. A hero doesn't just have to be someone who is specifically acknowledged by a medal or something to that degree, but someone who is courageous, someone you admire for their bravery. Some people may think that the word "Hero" is tossed around too lightly, but what's wrong with seeing your friends and family, and those who fight every day for freedom as heroes? There is nothing wrong with that. As a little girl my hero was the little mermaid just because she was half fish! ;) But today, the people I call my heroes are the people that are there for me every day, who love me for me, who don't dwell on mistakes I've made, and who don't let cancer bring them down, but make them stronger, and especially to every man and every woman that have or are fighting for us just to make sure we have a life full of choices and freedom to make those choices, to all of these heroes...
